|
|
Good news, the first of the Julio’s exclusive barrels have arrived.
As some of you know, a group of Loch & K(e)y members joined us on a unique experience this summer.
They took part in choosing our single barrel bourbons for Julio’s!
4 of those barrels are here!
The first is the Buffalo Trace Bourbon-
This is the Series V, It is hard to believe that we have been getting a single barrel of Buffalo Trace for 5 years.
This is a perennial favorite, It always runs out early. Like last year, the 1.75 are hand signed by Harlan Wheatley and have the Buffalo Nickel on each bottle!
The next 2 barrels are Eagle Rare 10yr.
They are Loch and K(e)y Members Choices. Both barrels were so good the members were split on which one to get. I stepped in to avoid a fist fight and bought both barrels, ( besides you can never have too much bourbon).
The first is from Barrel # 47
The second is from Barrel # 52
The last barrel is a limited release. The barrel had a high rate of evaporation and tasted incredible. There was so little bourbon in the barrel, we thought there might not be enough to bottle. There were only 89 bottles squeezed out of the barrel. It will be offered to Loch & K(e)y members who went to Kentucky or attended the first Loch & K(e)y Dinner. The bottles left will be posted on lochandkey.com and will be sold on a first come first served basis.
The bottles are Eagle Rare marked with an Angel-Share sticker.
We are still waiting for the rest of the barrels to arrive.
Those barrels are:
Pappy 15yr.
Rock Hill Farms (there is still a small amount of last year’s left!)
Sazerac Rye 6yr ( the first offering of single barrel rye)
This fall looks like it will be VERY interesting for whisk(e)y drinkers at Julio’s Liquors!!
Stay in touch and look for our NEW e-mail publication “Thru’ The K(e)y Hole”, based around the world of whisk(e)y!
