what to bring what to bring.

I'm thinking something on the light side , to go with the hot weather.

oop. I didn't take notes.. lemme see if I can recall the lineup.

[ there was one more to start with , it was light with a quick finish.. ]
Suntory Toki
Compass Box Enlightenment
Chieftains Littlemill
Chieftains Mortlach
Glenmorangie Tayne
Glenmorangie Duthac (?)
Dave Johnson's Solera Blend

and then Kevork asked for Something Smoky, and the winner
there was the Compass Box Flaming Heart 2nd ed.

I was more impressed by the Exceptional Grain whisky brought by Uncle Charlie than the Compass Box Enlightenment I brought. The Enlightenment felt closed.

Later thoughts: The Enlightenment I brought was new, opened at the Pot Luck. It nosed better a later night at home. It felt like one of those whiskies that we've all had that show better when poured on a second date thanks to the bit of air let into the bottle from the first pour on an earlier date.

Maybe this is lesson learned: Don't bring an unopened bottle to a pot-luck. Bring a bottle that you've opened for a single pour earlier? Or do most whiskies show better on the first pour? There are drams of both classes.

Thoughts anyone?

the Glenmorangie Tayne and the CB Flaming Heart 2nd ed. were also freshly opened at the potluck. I don't think either of those suffered for it.

maybe the EG => Suntory Toki set your palate up for different flavors.
